Spiritchaser is the seventh studio album by Dead Can Dance on which Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard focused on the more percussive, tribal side of the group's music. The album was recorded at Quivvy Church, Brendan Perry's personal studio in Ireland. Spiritchaser charted on the Billboard 200 list and reached No. 1 on the Top World Music Albums chart.
The Spiritchaser world tour commenced on 2nd June 1996 with a performance at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin. The tour included Dead Can Dance's first visit to South America, with concerts in Sao Paulo, Rio Di Janerio, Buenos Aires, Guadalajara and Mexico City.
Perry and Gerrard assembled a 9 piece live ensemble for the concerts with a strong focus on ethnic percussion.
